Gifts
It's almost Christmas time again and for our kids, that means setting up the tree, Christmas themed books they had forgotten about since last year and the hope of a bounty of gifts.
I've never been a good gift giver. I worry about the extra clutter and if the present is really the thing the person actually wanted. However, I've come to a realisation recently - gifts help is remember each other.
The gift doesn't really matter. When we see the gift that we have been given, we remember that for a moment, someone thought of us enough to want to give us a present.
If the gift is no more useful than for us to remember the giver then it has fulfilled it's purpose. To reconnect us, even if only by memory, to each other. After all, being together is what Christmas is all about.
