Love the Individual

I don't know - you think as a parent I would get it by now but you never really get a handle on how to parent.

Recently, while struggling through another bedtime routing with Yellow, I noticed that she would count by saying "One, two, three, seven, nine" and it almost seemed rote. She's only four but I remembered the others having being better at counting at this age.

Still, with a busy lifestyle and what seems a busier schedule, we find ourselves skipping the important steps for an individual child just because we feel like we have checked that part off. This is where it comes down to prioritizing the individual child and, as dull as it seems, ensuring their checks are marked off.

So, my responsibility to her is to play with her. Read with her and count with her. Children are expensive as their are valuable - with the expense being mainly of your time and energy to teach them. We need to focus on what is important. We need to enjoy the time while we still can.
