A simple life
I feed the local wildlife birds with some birdseed that I get from the shops. It's a good mix with a few sunflowers. I took a few and planted the seeds and a few of them grew into seedlings. I planted some of them in the ground but only one survived. Actually, it's thriving and it's almost 30cms tall. It's planned in a prime position and I can't wait to see it shine.
The pear trees in the garden weren't going well. I tried watering them and they didn't have any leaves. I've tried two things and it seems to be working. First, I deeped watered them with a slow trickle that allowed the water to get to the root bulb. Second, I sprayed it with anti-possum spray to stop the possums attacking the new shoots. It's starting to grow healthy now as weather warms. Lastly, I have a moister meter to let me know if I'm over watering it - which has been my issue with other trees before.
There is a lot going on and I've got to remind myself to stop and appreciate my children before they grow up without my noticing. The pace of life distracts you from what is truely important. Last weekend I took the kids to the Zoo and let Rachel have a rest day. She appreciated the time off.
It doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to always go to plan but it does need to matter. I heard this quote recently and it resonates with me at the moment.
The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.
