A sea of information
Imagine that you are adrift on a raft with no land in sight - there is water all around you but you can't drink it and you're very thirsty. Occasionally it rains and you get some reprieve with some drinkable fresh water but otherwise you have an endless supply of undrinkable water around you.
Recently, I think that is how it feels with endless social media, on-demand videos and other content. We have a "sea of information" but it doesn't satisfy our thirst. Or maybe its like mining - you have to dig through a lot of dirt to find something useful.
I did see one video about a traveler who had been around the world and they said that it wasn't the places that they went to but the people that gave them the greatest delight. Relationships take time and consuming an ocean of information - although entertaining - take time. Something has to give.
Spending time with people we love and friends benefits us the most. Nurturing those relationships can be the 'fresh water' that we need to thrive. Spending meaningful time with others anchors us to reality.
