Lesson learned

My son Blue brought home a little potted plant of cauliflower. He cared for it and watered it and it grew. Eventually he decided to move it to a new pot and during that process he left it outside to get some sunshine - otherwise it's been an indoor plant by the window sill.

I asked him if he wanted me to wrap it in wire to protect it while it was outside. I even asked him to bring it in soon. However, as often happens, he got distracted. Eventually he remembered it and went out to get it and found it had been eaten. We presume it was a possum - as our garden has been decimated by possums for quite some time.

Needless to say, he was upset. It was only 10cm tall with a couple of leafs on it and now it's just a stump. It is a waist that could have been prevented.

It made me wonder how often we are warned but ignore the warning to our own detriment. However, the pain of learning is a lesson that sometimes cannot be avoided. So the question that I ask now when we go through tough times is "What lesson was I suppose to learn from this?"

This photo is the trail north of us. A delightful bike ride and nicely flat.
