Finding Joy

The question came up "How do you find joy?" and it got me thinking about what truly makes me happy.

  • My wife
  • My 4 children
  • Making and keeping memories - especially taking photos

This year we had the loss of my wife's grandfather. He was a record keeper, author and international historian. He keep journals, souvenirs from overseas travel and the remnant of a household of having a large family. Now that he has passed, the discussion is coming up with what do we do with the journals, the furniture and other stuff.

Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received - only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage. - Francis of Assisi

A lot of things we own don't matter. They simply don't matter. What really matters is family relationships and being kind to each other. That is the source of joy and happiness that we can enjoy.

Our garden has sprung with daffodils. The creativity and growing is source a joy.
